April Fools Word of the day! - Da GUMBY!
Yeah we back !

I know it's been a while since our last word of the day post. The reason being of course that the homie Enzow dropped such a gem with "Swayze" it's been hard to brainstorm anything new for your vocab due to the extreme hilarity and impeccable comedic timing of that post, fucking Swayze yo!.

Anyway with that being said we bring to you... the Gumby, yeah that's right rock a Gumby! Popularized by late 80's and early 90's Rap and R&B artists, the Gumby is a massive slanting hair anomaly which is truly a sight to be seen and a milestone in both American and Hip Hop Culture.

Based upon the trippy, green clay-mation character of yesteryear the haircut came into fruition by a mix of magic, fate, creativity and possibly some bathtub gin or a dope addled excursion to an opium den depending on the decade of the early 1900's. Regardless of the exact origins of the angled follicle phenomenon it truly speaks for something and by all external appearences seems like an ideal hairstyle for speed and agility. Perhaps one of the most infamous Gumby gurus in history was Tupac playing "Bishop" in the classic movie Juice. I mean every motherfucker in that Movie had a Gumby, a slant, hi-top fade, or some other fucking hairstyle shaped like a shark fin and shit. But now by some sick twist of fate the Gumby seems to be making powerful return in recent years along with the Black mans Mohawk - sup with that?

Check out Yung Joc pulling off the amateur Gumby in promotion of his "Hustlenomics" album. Bold statement? Yeah I'd say it's bold to let someone take an axe to ur hi-top fade to create such a monstrosity but fuck it, Gumby is an icon forever immortalized by the fun and joy brought to kids across a span of generations as well as inspiring a hairdue worn by some of Raps greatest in their prime. Think about it... many a classic spawned from the cerebellums beneath a Gumby: Rakim, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, Nas, all them had Gumbys at one point. With that being said I'll depart this April Fools fashion retrospective with a clip of Tupac and the crew in "Juice" in all of their Gumby glory!....

"Yo there go Raheem lol!"
